Through our ‘Growing Together’ project, we delivered a prevention and early intervention support programme for children with complex needs and their families.
This included children presenting with social, emotional and behavioural difficulties, some of whom had already been diagnosed with a behavioural disorder, or mental health condition. Our holistic and systemic approach meant support also extended to parents/carers of children with such conditions, and to young carers who supported their parents or other adults/children where there were complex needs.
This was achieved through both therapeutic mentoring support for the children and family support sessions for the parents/carers.
The support delivered was ‘mirrored’, thus ensuring that a joint up approach was carried out, which will helped to ensure that the family could continue to implement the learning techniques both in between sessions and when the support ended.
